Social Media & Digital Content Creator

Social Media & Digital Content Creator

This is not a typical content role. And we’re not a typical employer.

Suffolk
Flexible — full time, part time or seasonal. Full UK driving licence required
Essential
A full UK driving licence is required. You’ll travel between sites across East Anglia, so the ability to drive independently is a must.
We provide a range of services to farmers and other rural businesses across East Anglia, crop roguing, field walking, tree planting, and more. We take on good people, treat them well, and get things done together. We’re looking for someone with a genuine eye for storytelling who wants to be part of that work, not just film it from a distance, but actually get stuck in alongside our teams. In return, you’ll own our social media presence, develop the strategy, shape how we tell our story, and help us show people what working with Summer Field Work really looks like. The right candidate will be given real creative ownership from day one.

What this role is really about

  • Storytelling. The best content we can create is honest — real people, real work, real moments from the field. Your job is to capture that and turn it into content people actually want to watch and share.
  • Being the face of the business. You’ll appear on camera as well as operate it. You’ll be the visible, human side of Summer Field Work online, representing who we are and how we work.
  • Building the strategy. You’ll develop our social media strategy from scratch, present it to us, and then build it out collaboratively. You’ll own it. We’ll shape it together.
  • Two audiences. Our content speaks to our customers, farmers, growers, and businesses who trust us to work with them and to the people who might want to come and work with us. Good content does both.
  • Digital videos that matter. Beyond social, you’ll produce short videos for internal use, for example, health & safety guides, team inductions, operational content, that are clear, well-made, and genuinely useful.
  • Day-to-day channel management. Planning, posting, engaging with our audience, tracking what works, and making it better.
  • Working in the field. This is an active, physical, outdoor role as much as a creative one. You’ll work alongside the team in all conditions and that experience is what makes the content real.

How this role works

We’re flexible. We care far more about finding the right person than filling a specific number of hours. Here’s what that could look like:

Full time · Summer season

You’re in the field and creating content throughout our busiest months. You do both. It’s full-on, varied, and you’ll leave with a strong portfolio and real agricultural experience.

Part time · Flexible

You split your time between us and other commitments. As long as you’re present when it matters and the content is getting made, we can make this work.

Student · Term-time off

You work with us during holidays and breaks, building your portfolio with real-world content across multiple platforms. You bring fresh ideas. We give you something worth filming.

Year-round · For the right fit

We’re building toward work beyond the summer. If you’re the right person and want to grow with us, there’s more here than a seasonal contract.

Tell us what you’re looking for. If you’re a good fit, we’ll find a way to make it work.

Who we’re looking for

  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Confident and natural on camera. You don’t need to be a performer, but you need to be comfortable being visible.
  • A passion for video, storytelling and social media — whether that’s professional experience or your own channels you’ve been building.
  • Able to shoot and edit video on a phone or camera. The quality of what you make matters more than the kit you use.
  • Someone who can take initiative and develop ideas independently, then collaborate to refine them.
  • Happy to work outdoors in all conditions and take on physical, hands-on work.
  • Reliable and a genuine team player. Those things matter here.

Helpful but not essential

  • Experience with editing tools such as CapCut, Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro or DaVinci Resolve.
  • Your own social media channels, even personal ones. Show us what you create when it’s for you.
  • Understanding of YouTube and short-form platforms and what makes content perform on each.
  • Knowledge of analytics and what drives engagement.
  • An interest in agriculture, the countryside, or rural life — though we’ll teach you everything you need.
  • Experience in employer brand or recruitment content.

What’s included

  • Social media training is part of the package. We’ll invest in developing your skills properly.
  • If you want to learn the agricultural side of what we do, that opportunity is there too — crop identification, seasonal field practices, and how rural contracting actually operates.
  • You’ll work closely with our marketing person and benefit from genuine collaboration as you build out the strategy.
  • A real portfolio. Across multiple platforms, real subjects, real stories. Not mock-ups or agency briefs.
  • Competitive pay. The detail depends on what you bring and how the role takes shape — let’s talk.

A bit more about the work

  • The core season runs through summer across Suffolk and Norfolk — crop roguing, field walking, potato grading, sheeting, and event-based work. That’s your raw material.
  • We’re a small team. You’ll know everyone in it, including the boss. There’s no HR department between you and the people making decisions.
  • No farming background needed. Attitude, reliability and genuine curiosity will take you further here than a CV full of agri-credentials.
  • We’re building toward year-round work. If you want to grow with us, that conversation is open.
